Susann Foynes Pramschufer

Susann Foynes Pramschufer was 70 years old when she passed away Monday, March 18, 2024. Born and raised in New York City, Susann moved to Bayville, Long Island as a teenager and attended high school there. Immediately following high school, she attended nursing school at Beth Israel and spent her entire career as a nurse and hospital administrator. She received a Master’s Degree in nursing from New York University, and was a leader of various nursing programs in New York City-area hospitals, including St. Vincent’s, Cornell, Lenox Hill and White Plains Hospital. At the peak of her career during the 9/11 attacks, she was one of the primary leaders organizing the nursing effort across NYC-area hospitals overseeing the care of victims and first responders, and thereafter overseeing Hospital-preparedness.

Susann and her late-husband Ronald raised their family in Pleasantville, New York, and moved to Havre de Grace, Maryland in retirement. Susann enjoyed the beach, being with family, and watching (probably too much) Bravo TV. Susann was very proud of her Irish heritage, and enjoyed all of the Irish holiday traditions.

Susann was predeceased by her husband Ronald Pramschufer, who passed away in 2018. Susann’s later personal life was marked by her steadfast support for Ronald’s care across his two fights with cancer. Susann is further predeceased by her parents Daniel and Catherine Foynes, and her brothers John and Daniel Foynes, both of whom she was very close with.

She is survived by her loving son Erik Pramschufer, his wife Shelby Sferra Pramschufer, and their son Jackson. Despite their short time together, Susann’s grandson Jackson was the joy of the last year and a half of her life while she battled her health issues.

Susann is further survived by her step-children Stephane Guzman and her family Derek and Katelyn, and Matthew Pramschufer and his family Janis and Wyatt. Susann’s closest personal friend was Teresa Paulucci, and Susann considered Teresa and her daughter Elisha as family.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in her memory on Tuesday, March 26th at 10:00 AM at Holy Innocents Church, 431 Bedford Rd, Pleasantville, NY 10570.
